Youth Registration Requirements

We welcome all interested future scouts to attend our meetings and come meet us.
Boys who are between 11 years old, or one who has completed the fifth grade or earned the Arrow of Light Award and is at least 10 years old, but is not yet 18 years old.
There are generally two types of future Boy Scouts; Webelos Scouts who are ready to graduate to a Boy Scout troop, and boys who have no Scouting experience.
Troop 205 does not have an associated Cub Scout Pack, however, we welcome all Webelos from Cub Scout Packs that are interested in our program.  We have a program that we can assist Webelos in Earning their Arrow of Light and will assist with their crossover requirements.  Please see separate Arrow of Light Program.
Boys with no scout experience are encouraged to join.  If you are not sure if you want to join or commit yourself, we encourage you to spend a few weeks attending our meetings and coming with us on a monthly camp-out or outing without obligation or commitment.
Finally, we welcome transfers from out of town or from other troops.
Attached below is a BSA Youth Application Form.  Please print it, fill it out and bring it with you to the meeting.
We look forward to seeing you at our next meeting.

Arrow of Light Program

BSA TROOP 205

St. Augustine, FL

ARROW OF LIGHT PROGRAM

“The highest award in Cub Scouting is the Webelos Arrow of Light award. It is the only Cub Scout badge that you can wear on your Boy Scout uniform. You will work on outdoor skills, physically fitness, and learn more about citizenship and working with others. Upon completion of Arrow of Light, you can bridge into a Boy Scout troop.

The Arrow of Light award is worn on the left pocket flap of the blue Cub Scout Uniform or below the left pocket of the tan Boy Scout Uniform.”

WHO:  ALL WEBELOS in St. Augustine Area

WHAT: Troop 205 Arrow of light program is a series of meetings/events to assist all Webelos with Boy Scout related events in order to earn their Arrow of Light Award.

WHEN: November – December 2013

WHERE: Den Meetings, Boy Scout meetings at First United Methodist Church, and a Campout location TBD.

WHY: Assist Webelos earn their Arrow of Light and expose them to potential opportunities of continuing their Scouting adventure.

Troop 205 Intent: Provide a safe, well planned program to assist Webelos Den Leaders and Webelos to complete their Arrow of Light and Outdoorsman activity badge.  Encourage Webelos to stay in Scouting by joining a local Boy Scout Troop.  Expose the Webelos and parent/guardian to Troop 205 and what we have to offer.  Invite motivated Scouts to join Troop 205.

Background:  Earning the Arrow of Light requires a lot of assistance and support from a local Boy Scout Troop.  Troop 205 is offering to assist with the Boy Scout related requirements for the Arrow of Light and the Outdoorsman activity badge.

Concept:  Troop 205 will coordinate at your request to send some of our senior Scouts to one of your Den meetings in early November where we will cover Requirement 2.  Then toward the end of November we want to invite your Webelos Den to attend our Boy Scout meeting (Requirement 4a).  This meeting will focus on preparation for the upcoming Campout on Saturday and Sunday in December at (TBD) (Requirement 4b).  This campout is designed to introduce the Webelos (and parent/guardian) to the outdoor activities of Boy Scouts as well as cover the Boy Scout related requirements for the Arrow of Light Award and the Outdoorsman activity badge.  Later after you have completed requirements 1-5 for the Arrow of Light, we will support requirement 6 and arrange for the individual Webelos Scout to visit another meeting of our Troop and have a conference with the Scoutmaster. Finally, Troop 205 will send representation to your Webelos Scout Cross Over Ceremony from Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts.

ENDSTATE: At the completion of the above program, your Webelos Scout will have completed its Boy Scout related requirements for the Outdoorsman activity badge and the Boy Scout related requirements for the Arrow of Light.  We hope to encourage your Webelos to stay in Scouting by joining a local Boy Scout Troop.  Expose the Webelos and parent/guardian to Troop 205 and what we have to offer.  Invite motivated Scouts to join Troop 205.
