Our troop is committed to delivering the Promise of Scouting to all of it's youth membership. We work hard to ensure that there is a constant stream of quality program offerings and outdoor adventure for boys of every age in our troop. Troop 440, like all good Boy Scout troops, is boy-led and offers opportunities for leadership development as well.
Troop 440 recognizes that we all have busy schedules. Boy Scouts is different from Cub Scouts in that it is a self-paced program. While advancement requires a level of activity within the troop during the year, Troop 440 meets almost year round so there is no end of opportunity to be active. We encourage Scouts to be active in youth groups, sports, band, clubs and other youth activities outside of Scouting.
Currently our troop has a youth membership of about 30 boys. These boys meet in patrols of about 10 boys each with an Assistant Scoutmaster or two charged with helping each patrol meet their goals. We are not an Eagle factory. Parents looking to push their youth quickly to rank of Eagle should look elsewhere. However, Troop 440 has many Scouts earning the rank of Eagle at their own pace. Advancement is a natural outcome of participation in the Scouting program.
